LORBER FILMS PRESENTS U.S. THEATRICAL PREMIERE OF “GENIUS WITHIN: THE INNER LIFE OF GLENN GOULD”

Opens September 10 in New York at Lincoln Plaza Cinemas

Official Selection – Toronto Film Festival

New York, NY, August 18, 2010 — Lorber Films is proud to announce the U.S. theatrical premiere of GENIUS WITHIN: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould, directed by distinguished filmmakers Michèle Hozer and Peter Raymont (Shake Hands with the Devil), the definitive documentary about one of the greatest and most enigmatic musicians of the twentieth century. The film will open on September 10 at New York’s Lincoln Plaza Cinemas. A press screening will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 6pm, see below for details.

An eccentric and idiosyncratic musical poet, world-renowned pianist Glenn Gould continues to captivate twenty-eight years after his untimely death. Gould’s inimitable music and writing reveal an insightful world-view that we are still unraveling, including his complex and unprecedented recording technologies. Overflowing with his original music and never before seen footage, plus exclusive interviews with friends and lovers given for the first time on film, GENIUS WITHIN: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould pierces through the myths revealing the man beneath the icon in this definitive must-see documentary.

“A must see film” — John Anderson, Variety

“…a brilliant and highly accurate piece of work…” — Penny Johnson, F Minor/The Glenn Gould Foundation

“GENIUS WITHIN gifts us with an invigorating and brightly unsettling journey into the complex psyche of Glenn Gould. Through the miracle of vintage film we are lured into the dense forest of his imagination — mischievous and divine. Gould exhibits his unparallel skills, shuffles in his ever‐present overcoat, and is so alive that we sense his footsteps, and feel his breath as we are assaulted by the duality of his smile.” — Patti Smith, Singer/Songwriter

GENIUS WITHIN: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould (2009, Canada, 106 mins.) Directed by Michèle Hozer and Peter Raymont. Produced by Peter Raymont. Supervising Producer: Kelly Jenkins. Editor: Michèle Hozer. Director of Photography: Walter Corbett. Music performed by Glenn Gould. A White Pine Pictures production.

TRUTH & SALVAGE CO. SINGER/SONGWRITER FILES SUIT AGAINST MARRIOTT HOTEL CORPORATION AFTER BEING ASSAULTED, ARRESTED, AND JAILED FOR “TRESPASSING” IN HIS OWN HOTEL ROOM

According to a recent lawsuit filed in Tulare County California, Tim Jones—one of the four singers/songwriters of the musical group TRUTH & SALVAGE COMPANY—was shaken awake and ripped from his bed by hotel security and local police while sleeping at the Marriott Hotel in Visalia, CA. Jones, a Marriott rewards member and a registered guest staying the night at the Visalia Marriott in February 2010, was handcuffed, assaulted, taken to jail and cited for trespassing and resisting arrest in his own hotel room after performing at a concert earlier in the evening. In the wake of the assault and imprisonment, Jones filed suit against Marriott Hotel Corporation on four counts, including negligence, negligent supervision, assault and battery.

Ironically, Marriott Hotel’s slogan is, “Your home away from home.” Tim Jones learned the hard way that Marriott’s slogan is nothing more than that, simply a slogan. Instead of spending the night in his hotel room, the singer/songwriter was forced to spend the night in a Visalia jail cell. Jones was finally released at noon the following day.

Following the incident Jones said, “I was shocked by the break-in and arrest. I kept telling them that I was a registered guest but they acted as if they couldn’t hear a word I was saying.”

One month after the incident, Jones was set to be arraigned in the Tulare County Superior Court. Legal representatives of the band arrived at the courthouse to answer for Jones, only to find that the District Attorney’s office had not filed any charges against Jones. To date, charges have not been filed and Visalia Police have refused to release the police incident report to the Los Angeles based Jordan Law Group, PLC; the Truth and Salvage legal team. Attorney Vahe Jordan was quoted as saying “We’re hopeful that Marriott will accept responsibility for the way they treated Jones, who has been a loyal customer for many years.”

Marriott experienced a public relations nightmare last year that spread in blogs, stemming from the legal position their Stamford, Connecticut franchisee attorneys took when a woman brought suit citing security shortcomings after being raped in the presence of her two children while in a parking structure located at the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa. Court documents filed by the Marriott franchisee attorneys last year state the victim “failed to exercise due care for her own safety and the safety of her children and proper use of her senses and facilities.” The defense was viewed by many as blaming the victim. Marriott later dropped that defense.

As for Jones, he did not have any outstanding warrants; he wasn’t suspected of, nor accused of, any crime prior to being violated by Marriott Security staff and the Visalia Police. He later received medical treatment for injuries sustained during the arrest.

Currently, Tim Jones and his band Truth & Salvage Co. are touring the United States in support of their self-titled debut album (Megaforce Records/Silver Arrow Records) which was released in May of this year and was produced by Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes. Truth & Salvage Co.—set to make their national television debut on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this Thursday, August 19—was cited as a “Top 10 Band To Watch This Summer” by USA Today and Rolling Stone said the band “has what it takes for the long haul.” Their album was given 4½ stars by Glide.com, which noted, “Truth and Salvage is an explosion of Americana and sweaty Rock-n-Roll that comes off more like a greatest hits album than a debut…set to become an instant classic.”

JAGERMEISTER ANNOUNCES FALL MUSIC TOUR FEATURING SLAYER AND MEGADETH WITH SPECIAL GUEST ANTHRAX

LOS ANGELES, CA - August 17, 2010 — Jagermeister, the brand known for decades of involvement with rock and metals bands, continues to own the concert circuit with the announcement of the 2010 Fall Jagermeister Music Tour, North America’s biggest thrash tour in 20 years with the 1991 original “Clash of the Titans” lineup - Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. The brand’s 17th Music Tour will bring three of the hardest hitting metal bands in the world to one stage and will feature complete performances of Slayer’s much lauded Seasons In The Abyss album from 1990, Megadeth’s landmark 1990 album Rust In Peace, and the return of Anthrax’s singer Joey Belladonna. The tour kicks off September 24 and will play 20 venues across the nation.

“I’ve been working with Jagermeister since 2004 to try to make the first Jagermeister Music Tour Trifecta happen,” said guitarist Kerry King of Slayer. “I always have such a killer time on the Jagermeister Music Tour, and this time we’re coming through with Megadeth and Anthrax so you know everyone will be on the top of their game for these shows.” Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine adds, “It is a rush to finally be a part of the Jagermeister Music Tour!”

“Slayer has been a long time friend and supporter of the brand,” says Bill Henderson, Senior Vice President Marketing and Advertising at Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc. “Jagermeister has been sponsoring them since 2001 and named them as headliner of both the 2003 and 2004 Fall Music Tours. It is great to work with them again and know that adding Megadeth and Anthrax to the program will make this a tour to remember.”

In the beginning, when there were no blueprints, no set paths, no boundaries or steps to follow, SLAYER assaulted the world with its new hybrid of metal and punk. Heavier, faster and darker than the rest, Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - set the new standard that all others continue to follow. And that has continued through to 2010. Revolver, SPIN and Metal Hammer have all named Slayer “Best Live Band.” Esquire presented them with an Esky Award. They’ve got two Grammys, a Kerrang! Hall of Fame Award and multiple Revolver Readers’ Poll Awards. For this fall’s Jagermeister Music Tour, Slayer’s Tom Araya promises “no ballads, no acoustic numbers, no slow tempos.”

For the past two decades, Megadeth’s storied career, including more than 20-million worldwide sales and eight Grammy nods, has not only set standards in hard rock and metal, but defined them. Megadeth’s signature shredding and rousing lyrics have drawn fans in since the band’s beginnings, and are the very things that keep them interested, excited, and of course, head-banging, at every turn. Founding vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine, a NY Times best selling author who was the recipient of the first annual Golden God Award at the inaugural Revolver Golden God Awards in 2009, is renowned for his ability to use the vehicle of music to shake things up, to make a point and to rattle your brain, literally, figuratively and sonically, which he did with 2009’s ENDGAME, which received some of the highest critical accolades of the band’s already impressive career. The band’s fourth album, Rust In Peace, saw the band cement their status as one of the most important metal bands with masterpieces like “Hanger 18” and “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due.”

With worldwide sales in excess of 10-million, Anthrax, who along with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, is credited with originating the thrash genre, is about to celebrate its 29th year as a band, and continues to be one of metal’s all-time great acts. Over the band’s career, Anthrax has received multiple Gold and Platinum albums, multiple Grammy nominations, and a host of other accolades from the press, industry and fans. Earlier this year, Anthrax announced that vocalist Joey Belladonna, an essential part of Anthrax’s lineup from 1985 to 1992, was rejoining the band, and has taken his place onstage this summer as Anthrax has joined Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth - The Big Four founding members of Thrash - as co-headliners of a series of Sonisphere Festivals in seven European cities. Plans are for the “classic era” Anthrax to write and record a new album for a 2011 release.

The Jagermeister Fall Music Tour will feature Jagermeister custom prizes from tour sponsors Schecter Guitars and Peavey Electronics. In addition, Jagermeister will be hosting nightly text-to-win giveaways including Tap machines and other branded POS. Giveaways are subject to state and local laws and participants must be of legal drinking age or older. The Jagermeister Fall MusicTour will be produced by Synergy Global Entertainment, Inc.

Danbert Nobacon Announces His New Album with the Bad Things, Woebegone, Out October 19th

Former Chumbawamba Vocalist Will Release a Novel “Three Dead Princes – An Anarchist Fairytale” on October 1st “Danbert is one of the agent provocateurs in the anarcho-syndicalist collective Chumbawamba; a man of principle, poetry and passion. Equal parts Manu Chao and Joe Strummer. Recommended.” Culture Bunker

Agitprop musician/writer/social critic/actor Danbert Nobacon is back with a new album and book this fall. Backed by Seattle’s gypsy punks The Bad Things, Nobacon recorded a song cycle called Woebegone, available October 19th. Never one to relax, his first novel will arrive on October 1st! “Three Dead Princes – An Anarchist Fairytale” is illustrated by film-maker Alex Cox (Repo Man, Sid and Nancy). Nobacon will hit the road in October to do readings and play gigs across this great land, with a record release party in Seattle on Halloween.

Woebegone is a fictional musical noir tracking the early years of Johnny Woebegone and Lilithiana Red, through songs of oil, sex, death with an otherworldliness we cannot quite put our finger on. Set in the rapidly decaying world of the mid-2020s, with Nobacon in character as Woebegone, the album charts yet to be discovered hidden depths. The pairing Nobaconian lounge noir and other country blues, with the majesty of The Bad Things’ junkyard cabaret provides a musical feast for delinquents and degenerates everywhere.

Johnny Woebegone is a character in a novel Nobacon will write someday as Bebon Condorant; he is a time travelling roots musician trapped in a poisonous police state sometime in the future. Nobacon is a student of science, nature, art and history as well as being a dedicated anarchist; his dystopian future has a raucous, piratical sound when put to music. In “Johnny Woebegone” Nobacon sings, “Gangsters, G-men, raptors and ghosts, sharpening their various claws, arms trade profiteers, government yes-men, a war tailor made for double agents.” While in “Evolution 9” he describes Woebegone as a broken man, singing “To H.G. Wells, who once wrote, when the lights were going out all over Europe, that human history is a race between education and the catastrophe that embraces us now.

Nobacon’s union with The Bad Things came out of a co-bill after he moved to Washington and played a show at the Northwest Folklife Festival. James “Jimmy The Pickpocket” Berg, leader of The Bad Things knew Nobacon’s music long before most of his peers – while hitchhiking in Europe as a teen, one band kept coming to his attention: Nobacon’s collective, Chumbawamba. He was thrilled to share a bill and introduce himself – gigs together lead into musical collaboration, the resulting Woebegone takes traditional music into a Wagnerian punk realm.

Nobacon’s work with Chumbawamba is now legendary: after their worldwide hit “Tubthumper” was released in 1997, they used their new pop fame to spread their anarchic beliefs in interviews and appearances. Danbert became known for dumping a bucket of ice water over John Prescott, the British deputy prime minister, at an awards ceremony, in London, in 1998, to protest the Blair government’s treatment of striking dockworkers. When booked on David Letterman, Chumbawamba turned one of their choruses into “Free Mumia Abu Jamal” and sparred with Barbara Walters during prime time.

In 2007, he released The Library Book of the World, produced by Jon Langford (backed by his Pine Valley Cosmonauts). Time Out New York’s Scott Schinder called it “ramshackle agit-punk and folk that merges humanist outrage, absurdist humor and pirate swagger.”

Nobacon hits the trifecta this fall with a new album, book and American tour to share his futurist punk rock roots music. He sings, “I’m the story that oils all of our twisted lives, and now I’m cursed to repeat it.” This is an apt refrain for his coming plans.

Toussaint’s “Black Gold” Out Next Week!

“While the wounds from his split with the funk band Soulive are still fresh, Toussaint Liberator is already bouncing back stronger than ever.” -Boston Herald

“Throughout the album, Toussaint proves himself capable of toeing this seemingly very narrow, but very strong line between Reggae and Soul” -United Reggae

I Grade Records is pleased to introduce, Black Gold, the debut solo album by Toussaint. Most well known as the former lead singer of the Stax Records and Blue Note recording group Soulive, Toussaint is poised to bring forth his unforgettable blend of soul and roots to the world. Black Gold embodies a unique combination of the American soul of Toussaint’s upbringing and the African-Caribbean roots he has gravitated towards. His compelling storytelling and seamless vocal range (as heard on the standout tracks “Roots In A Modern Time”, “Unforgettable”, “Black Gold”) are a perfect match for the cutting-edge, soul-tinged roots grooves assembled by Virgin Islands-based I Grade Records (Midnite, Dezarie, Pressure, Niyorah). STONE SOUR ANNOUNCES SPECIAL NYC SHOW TO CELEBRATE RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM AUDIO SECRECY

INTIMATE AUGUST 30 GIG AT THE STUDIO AT WEBSTER HALL TO BE STREAMED WORLDWIDE

AUDIO SECRECY IN STORES SEPTEMBER 7

LEAD SINGLE “SAY YOU’LL HAUNT ME” NO. 6 AT ROCK RADIO

New York, NY: (August 16, 2010) – As they gear up for September 7th release of highly anticipated new album AUDIO SECRECY, 3-time Grammy nominees STONE SOUR have announced plans for a special intimate show/record release party at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York City on August 30th.

The special performance will be available for the entire world to see via a live stream that can be viewed on stonesour.com and roadrunnerrecords.com beginning at 8:30 pm EST.

Among the songs in that night’s set will be hook-laden lead single “Say You’ll Haunt Me,” (currently No. 6 at Active Rock and No. 17 at Modern Rock radio) and hard-charging new track “Mission Statement.” The band recently offered the latter as a free download and the response was massive, as fans downloaded the song more than 1,000 times an hour during a two-day period.

Stone Sour (lead vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarists James Root and Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki and drummer Roy Mayorga) and producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Deftones) recorded AUDIO SECRECY at Blackbird Studios in Nashville during the destructive storms and devastating floods that hit the historic heart of Music City.

The group will be playing select songs from the album during this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, a 36-date tour that launches August 17 in Minneapolis, MN and will visit arenas and amphitheatres across North America before wrapping October 4 in Madison, WI. Prior to Uproar, Stone Sour will join Guns ‘N Roses, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots and many more at the “Rock ‘N Rev Festival” in Sturgis, SD on August 11th, followed by radio shows August 13 in Springfield and August 14 in St. Louis.

AUDIO SECRECY is the follow-up to the gold-certified Come What(ever) May, which was also produced by Raskulinecz and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and spawned three radio hits, including the No. 1 smash hit single, “Through Glass,” “Sillyworld” and “Made of Scars.” Billboard hailed the record as “an intense, taut piece of work,” Alternative Press called the group “masters of ass-kicking,” adding, ”In a better America, Stone Sour would be the face of American rock” and Revolver magazine gave the disc four stars and praised the quintet for “demonstrating a dynamic range equaled by few of their peers.” Stone Sour’s self-titled debut, also certified gold, spawned the band’s first breakthrough hit “Bother,” which was spotlighted on Spider-Man soundtrack.

SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF “HEART IS STRANGE” DIGITAL SINGLE

Indie-pop trio SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS are releasing a single for their track “Heart is Strange”, off their recently released sophomore album Disconnect from Desire on Vagrant Records/Ghostly International. The four track digital single will feature the UK edit of the track, as well as remixes of Disconnect from Desire tracks “Heart is Strange” by Pantha du Prince, “I L U” by Phantogram and “Dust Devil” by White Sea.

Band member Benjamin Curtis recently said of the upcoming single that “‘Heart Is Strange’, from the start, was clearly it’s own animal. It was a song we took on tour with us for most of 2009, changing it’s shape over and over again. Finally, influenced by a mind-bending night out we had dancing and listening to music after a show in Barcelona, it finally found it’s final (and best) form in early 2010. We did this shorter edit of the song after the album was finished, and probably for the first time in rock and roll history, I have to admit that I prefer the edit.”

As fervent Pantha Du Prince fans and both fans and friends of Phantogram, Ben was particularly excited for the remixes, praising White Sea’s remix as “the real stunner here…White Sea is a brand new project from Morgan Kibby, who you probably know as the star of the last M83 album ‘Saturdays=Youth’. I really can’t believe what a great job she did with this song, and I can’t wait to hear where she goes from here.”

SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS, formed in 2007 by Benjamin Curtis (formerly of Secret Machines) and identical twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza (formerly of On! Air! Library!), are currently preparing for a US headlining tour in support of Disconnect from Desire, beginning in September.

“On their excellent second… School of Seven Bells update the atomic, textured sound of classic shoegaze bands like Ride and My Bloody Valentine with danceable beats, of-the-moment electronic textures and some of the prettiest, angelic vocals… in indie rock.” - Rolling Stone

“The lyrics revolve around perception and expectation, fate and few will, with the occasional blush of poetic overstatement. Now and then, though, the band unfurls a plain-spoken sentiment. There isn’t likely to be a more graceful breakup song this year than ‘I L U,’ or a more tersely affecting.” - New York Times

“Alpinisms… blended dreamy, deep-focus soundscapes with spiraling melodies sung in close harmony. On Desire, [they] rein in and smooth out those same elements, as songs like the uplifting ‘Windstorm’ and majestic ‘Joviann’ fit space-mother sing-alongs and relaxed Madchester rhythms into snappier verse-chorus structures.” - SPIN

Heart is Strange Tracklisting:
1. Heart is Strange (edit)
2. Heart is Strange (Pantha du Prince)
3. I L U (Phantogram Remix)

OUTSIDE LANDS 2010 A SUCCESS

80,000 FLOCK TO GOLDEN GATE PARK TO ENJOY MUSIC, FOOD AND WINE

NEARLY $3 MILLION DONATED TO RECREATION & PARK DEPARTMENT

Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly Productions and Starr Hill Presents, in a partnership with the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department, are proud to announce that the third annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, held in San Francisco from August 14 - 15, was a great success. 80,000 fans came to enjoy 55 artists on five stages as well as some of the best food and wine in the region in historic Golden Gate Park over the weekend. Nearly three million dollars have been donated to the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department since the festival’s inception.

With incomparable vision marrying food, wine and music in a fashion unlike any other festival in the country, festival organizers created a glorious atmosphere in one of the greatest parks in the world.

The press agreed.
